Super Crocodilule & Quiet Colleague-Of-Mine:

It is quiet around here. It is a good thing. There is a lot to keep busy: Software, strategies, systems.

I was the one who made some noise. You know, plagiarism, piracy, attacks... Some honest people might think I do something like cutting the spaghetti with a chainsaw. There is no better way to act. Otherwise, the nice guy would be overwhelmed by the bad guy.

I learned well from experience. I have written about some incidents at my website:

Gambling Mathematics: Reaction And Legislation Regarding Online Gambling, Internet Casinos.

I follow a rule I named the ‘Wild West’:

“When bandits cross your way, be the sherif, not the prostitute!”

How about a new strategy? I know, I know! We are busy enough with our software and strategies... I am, too. I started to take playing seriously. I am now with the skips, pairs, and lotto shuffling. I believe shuffling has great potential, but it is very slow. I am patient. I know I’ll have to run the shuffle option at least 100 times before playing. It’s like saving money for 100 drawings.

THIS NEW STRATEGY IS ABOUT LOTTERY NUMBERS DIVIDED INTO THREE CATEGORIES BASED ON FREQUENCY.

You saw that version 4.0 of SkipSystem.EXE has a special feature. At the end of the report, the program lists the lottery numbers by frequency: From the most frequent number to the least. That feature was not requested here, but in a lottery newsgroup. The poster expressed his interest in such a software feature because he thought of some strategies. I invited the poster to register to our message board and participate with his strategies. He didn’t decline, but said he needed more time to develop a strategy.

Well, I decided I’d better show my strategy based on frequency and hope that other members will contribute. Let’s create a strategy that is going to be pirated big time! Don’t worry, I’ll be the sherif! I won’t hesitate to take the blame for harsh language and measures! It’s the right thing to do...

I take as an example a lotto 6/49 game. We divide the lotto numbers in three frequency categories as follows:

1) Group 1, the most frequent: 1/8 (12.5%) of all numbers = 6 lotto numbers;
2) Group 2: 37.5% of all numbers = 18 lotto numbers;
3) Group 3, the least frequent: 50% of all numbers = 25 lotto numbers.

The division has a good foundation: Fewer numbers with higher frequency lead to better playing efficiency.

The 6 winning numbers in a lotto draw will have a distribution such as: 2-2-2: 2 numbers from the top 6, 2 numbers from the middle frequency zone, 2 numbers from the least frequent group.

I created a table for a few examples of distribution. How many numbers in each of the three frequency groups; number of winners in each group; then, in the brackets, how many combinations from that group; last, how many total combinations by the distribution.

Code:
   6            18            25            Combinations
---------------------------------------------------------------------

   2 (15)         2 (153)      2 (300)               688,500
   1 (6)         2 (153)        3 (2300)          2,111,400
   1 (6)         1 (18)           4 (12650)         1,366,200
   3 (20)         3 (816)      0 (1)                16,320
   4 (15)         2 (153)      0 (1)                2,295
   2 (15)         4 (3060)      0 (1)                 45,900
   1 (6)         5 (8568)      0 (1)                 51,408

There is no software for this strategy. Of course, members of this forum could write software. But for now, many people can participate. For example, testing manually. Go back, say, 100 draws. Run SkipSystem.EXE with a data-6.2 that starts at line #101 9n data-6. Go to the end of the report. Divide the last line that shows the numbers ordered by the highest frequency. A couple of blank spaces after the first 6, then after the next 18. Look at the draw #100 in data-6. Write down the frequency distribution; e.g. 2-3-1. And so on, to the last draw possible (line #2 in data-6).

Sharing the results would be really nice.

Best of luck from Parpaluck!

This is how I set-up Skipsums.exe

1. I created a Data file form all the Pennsylvania Cash 5 drawings.
4/23/92 thru 11/28/06 (Total 3948 drawings)

2. The next thing I did was delete "78" of the most recent drawings leaving drawings from 4/23/92 thru 9/11/06. Total 3878 drawings

3. Next I used all the defaults for Skipsums.exe (using my data5 file)

4. Skip Sum Report

The lotto-5 numbers sorted by frequency

I should have added that in the Group column #78 is the most recent drawing (11/28/06) and #1 would be drawing from 9/12/06.

I don't know the combinations that would have been required. It is also possible that I have the wrong Groupings (5, 14, 20)

winsumloosesum2005:

Thanks for your contribution.

You selected the groups correctly, as far as I am concerned. You start with the least frequent group: 50%. Round up to the next largest integer: 20. Then, select the most frequent group: 1/8; round off to the next lowest integer. The rest of the numbers go to group 2.

Use the combination formula to calculate the number of combinations in each group.

1) group 1: C(5, n1), where n1 is number of winners from the group. Eg C(5, 1) = 5; C(5, 2) = 10; C(5, 0) = 1.

2) group 2: C(14, n2), where n1 is number of winners from the group. Eg C(14, 1) = 14; C(14, 2) = 91; C(14, 0) = 1.

3) group 3: C(20, n3), where n1 is number of winners from the group. Eg C(20, 1) = 20; C(20, 2) = 190; C(20, 0) = 1.

Total combinations is the multiplication of number of combinations in each group. For example, the case 1-2-2 gives 5 * 91 * 190 = 86,450 total combinations. The 0-0-5 case generates C(20, 5) = 15,504 combos.

You can choose randomly from all those combinations, or purge the output file. I assume you have some program to generate the combinations from 3 groups.

Another point is the parpaluck (The range of analysis). You chose N * 2 (78 past draws). The degree of certainty for N = 78 is DC = 99.99%. That means that 99.99% of the lotto 5/39 numbers will come out in 78 drawings. I would try lower parpalucks, like N (39 drawings) or N/2 (20). The parpaluck is higher for pairs, because the probability is lower.

Best of luck!

Ion Saliu

You got a couple of great lines:
3-1-1 = 9360 combos
3-2-0 = 3060 combos!

I didn’t think a big parpaluck like 500 would work too good...

Thanks for contributing.

Lottery, Lotto Systems: Frequency

Calculate Total Combinations For Groups Of Lotto Numbers

winsumloosesum2005 et al.

Calculating the number of combinations should be the easiest part. I said previously "to apply the combination formula". It is hard to apply a formula manually. There are hand-held calculators with a function that calculates the combinations C(N, M); e.g. C(49, 6). My calculator (Sharp EL-531D) has a button labeled nCr. You type 49, then pres nCr, then 6, and finally nCr.

My free software also calculates the number of combinations with ease. The easiest one is ODDSCALC.EXE. It can be downloaded from my downloads site, software category 5.6 Scientific freeware: Mathematics, statistics, probability, combinatorics, odds, algorithms. ODDSCALC.EXE calculates all the odds in the game; eg from 0 of 5 to 5 of 5. The ‘5 of 5' is the only one needed in the case of this strategy.

Also, MDIEditor And Lotto WE calculates the number of combinations as C(39, 5). Menu, Lotto, Lotto Odds; type, for example 18, then 5; or 20, 3. The program will display total number of combinations for those two parameters. It will also generate combinations for that format. Just type 1 as number of combinations to generate.

Right now, I don’t have software to generate combinations for this frequency-based strategy. But we have programmers in this community. One of them, Critser (nice name), is far better trained in programming than I am. He wrote the CoolRevGui file viewer and Markov.EXE. He wanted me believe that he was a strong advocate of the ‘open source’ concept. We give him now a golden opportunity to prove that he really is an adept of ‘open source’ software. I wouldn’t stay on the sidelines...

Actually, I trained out of any school. I only care to program my things only (math, gambling, lottery). Tackium also has programming skills. So, I think others here can write software to handle this strategy. That is, generate the reports (2-1-3, 3-02, etc); then, generate combinations using the 1-2-3 strings as filters. The program could mimic SkipDecades6.EXE.

By the way. Looks like big guns of systems and strategies are quite...quiet. You know, the likes of tackium, sniffer, Stallion... But, as I said a while ago, silence is a good thing. That means seriousness. Time is mainly allocated to analyzing and playing. I’ll do myself more and more of that, while keeping quieter and quieter here.

By the way encore. I received recently some strange messages. Also, a persistent search string in the site search engine on my Search.htm page. The string is ‘attrasoft’. I googled and I came across a piece of so-called ‘neural software’. It is also called a ‘predictor’, including predicting lottery numbers!

It is not clear if the message I should get is that I copy the ideas in ‘attrasoft’? I don’t think so. I’ve been way ahead of everybody in this field of ‘prediction’ (actually, ‘probability theory’).

The ‘attrasoft’ kind of messages appeared, as I remember, in the past couple of months. Anyone here can shed more light?

No, no, no. I don’t assume (accuse, that is) that ‘attrasoft’ pirated my ideas! I can only GUARANTEE you that the ‘attrasoft’ guys are naive. I don’t think they have a clue on filters and how many filters are necessary in ‘predicting’ the lottery numbers! I had some info regarding "neural networking" in general. To this point, the attempts are lowly naive. They need to discover many, many more patterns (what I call filters).

Best of luck!

Thanks, winsumloosesum2005. I live also in Pennsylvania where they play that 5/39 lotto game. I use your chart. I trust all your combination calculations are correct.

I also post your chart in a table for better viewing. Other members can adapt the source code for other lotto games, especially 6/49. Perhaps they’ll post the tables here. I know, HTML at this message board looks cumbersome. I should transfer the whole thing to the main web site. Hope you don’t mind for publishing the table based on your calculations...

By the way, I think the best distribution for pick3 or pick-4 should be:
2-3-5
Total combinations is simpler to calculate for ‘boxed’, but more complex for ‘straight’.

Ion,

Thank you for the thread on the distribution! I think the distribution for Pick3 2-3-5 should look like this:

0 0 3 (10 box-6 + 20 box-3 + 5 AAA combos=125 straights)
0 1 2 (30 box-6 + 15 box-3=225 straights)
0 2 1 (15 box-6 + 15 box-3=135 straights)
0 3 0 (1 box-6 + 6 box-3 + 3 AAA combos=27 straights)
1 0 2 (20 box-6 + 10 box-3=150 straights)
1 1 1 (30 box-6=180 straights)
1 2 0 (6 box-6 + 6 box-3=54 straights)
2 0 1 (5 box-6 + 10 box-3=60 straights)
2 1 0 (3 box-6 + 6 box-3=36 straights)
3 0 0 (2 box-3 + 2 AAA combos=8 straights)

Total=1000 combinations

Sorry I don't know how to say combinations like 000, 111, 222 in English. I call it AAA combos here.

Thanks a lot, xiaoqiang. I believe your pick-3 calculations are correct. Can you do computer programming too?

Also, thanks winsumloosesum2005 for the lotto 6/49 calculations he emailed to me.

I'll try to publish the tables as soon as I can

Here is the table format for the calculations performed by xiaoqiang and winsumloosesum2005. The table format doesn’t look good on this message board. I want to add a special page at saliu.com. Besides, it is a good preventive measure. You never know what can happen to public forums. Nor do you know how other guys react. I had my space at spaces.msn.com, and the bastards deleted it without notice! The real problem was I had a page over there that presented important features in the Util.EXE programs...

I hope also to see some movement in the programming department. Like I said, the program should resemble SkipDecades6.EXE:
- create the 1-2-3 reports for past drawings;
- generate combinations for various 1-2-3 cases.

Thanks a lot!

Xiaoqiang did a great job. He calculated all cases for pick-3 and pick-4. Winsumloosesum2005 also did a great job calculating the combinations for 5/39 and 6/49 lotto games. I thank you both, Xiaoqiang and Winsumloosesum2005.

The tables follow. The HTML look at this message board is not the greatest in the world. So, please be understanding. Scroll past those empty spaces — It feels better if you listen to Pink Floyd’s “Empty Spaces”…

Hi, Marcher. I'm not a programmer, I calculate Pick-3 manually. Today I calculate distribution for Pick-4.

Here are the Pick-4 Sets For Frequency System

G1 G2 G3 Single 1-Pair 2-Pair Triple Quad Total
0 0 4 120 360 60 80 5 625
0 4 0 --- 36 18 24 3 81
4 0 0 --- --- 6 8 2 16
0 1 3 720 720 --- 60 --- 1500
0 3 1 120 360 --- 60 --- 540
0 2 2 720 540 90 --- --- 1350
1 0 3 480 480 --- 40 --- 1000
1 3 0 48 144 --- 24 --- 216
1 1 2 1440 360 --- --- --- 1800
1 2 1 720 360 --- --- --- 1080
2 0 2 240 300 60 --- --- 600
2 2 0 72 108 36 --- --- 216
2 1 1 360 360 --- --- --- 720
3 0 1 --- 120 --- 40 --- 160
3 1 0 --- 72 --- 24 --- 96
Total 5040 4320 270 360 10 10000

Xiaoqiang:

Thank you very much, indeed. I used to know how to say “Thank you” in Chinese. I forgot. By the way: what do you mean in your signature?

“Want to see Beijing 2008 Olympic Games if I have got a chance”

Yes, I would like to see any Olympiad in person. I hope I’ll win big in lottery and gambling and see the Beijing Olympiad in person. But I have a problem: I am kind of afraid I would be arrested! You know what I mean! I am banned in China… Can I trust?

Serious now. I believe your calculations for pick-4 are correct. The totals are for sure correct: 5040 4320 270 360 10 10000. They are determined by formulas; you applied the formulas correctly. I’ll create the pick-4 table now and publish it here as soon as I can. I’ll have less disposable time beginning tomorrow — my employment gets really hot! Today is Sunday and big NFL games…

Best of luck!
